Region 4 P2 Partnership members,
the purpose of this email is to remind everyone that the deadline for
making hotel arrangements for the upcoming regional env conf
http://aec.army.mil/prod/region4/index.html
<http://aec.army.mil/prod/region4/index.html> is this Friday, 8 Jun
‘01. Also, if you can, please go ahead and register in advance as this
will help with the conference planning, (meals, registration materials,
etc.). Unfortunately, the government is supporting this conference with
in-house staff and can therefore only pay the hotel expenses via your
payment by personal check. Please note that your check will not be
cashed until the day of the conference.
There is a lot happening and something guaranteed to benefit everyone,
but real quickly, this is how the P2 sessions are shaping up during the
annual Region 4 Env Conf for the week of 25 June here in Atlanta.
Tuesday - Opening session at noon (plenary session all afternoon)
Wednesday - All day P2 Track (5 speaking sessions will begin after the
morning's plenary session, ~ 9:50 a.m.)

1:00 - 4:00 p.m., EPA/State P2 Regional Roundtable Meeting (state and
EPA only)
Friday - 9:00 a.m. to noon EPA/State P2 Regional Roundtable Meeting
NOTE: We encourage everyone to participate for as long as they can and
to register for the conference, but if you can't come for the entire
conference, you may come and participate in the P2 track sessions
separately. The organizers of the conference have asked though, that if
someone plans to participate in any of the breaks or lunches, that they
plan to register for the conference and pay the fee. There are a lot of
factors that go into what constitutes the final registration cost with
the hotel, but all costs have been kept to a minimum as much as
possible.

Invitation Memo:
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2001 Region 4 Environmental
Conference, June 26-28, 2001 to be held at the Westin Peachtree Plaza,
210 Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia. This is the premier
environmental conference http://aec.army.mil/prod/region4/index.html
<http://aec.army.mil/prod/region4/index.html> that brings
together DoD, EPA and State environmental officials and
MACOM/Installation level managers and staff to discuss environmental
challenges and opportunities.
The theme for this year's conference is "Sustainable Installations +
Military Readiness = Investment in Our Nation's Future." We anticipate
about 300-350 people attending this year's conference and believe that
our
agenda is the strongest to date.
The program is focused on specific actions that will help
installations/managers/ regulators become more effective in developing
and implementing "sustainable installation principles" for long-term
investment. A lot of work is being devoted to making sure that you are
given the best and most current information to support your needs. We
have structured this year's program around Plenary sessions specifically
designed to give a
top-down perspective while establishing TRACKS that will allow you to
follow a central theme to a reasonable degree of depth.
The primary tracks are the Sustainable Installations - Future
Investments; Munitions and Range Operations; Stakeholder Involvement and
Community Outreach and the standard pillars of Compliance, Conservation,
Pollution Prevention (see website agenda or info below on P2 section)
and Cleanup/Innovative Technologies.
As key environmental managers and leaders, your presence at this
conference is an important investment in establishing sustainable
installations, maintaining military readiness and strengthening our
environmental stewardship. We hope you will join us.
Sincerely,
/s/
/s/
