As you have seen, several valid concerns have been raised over
Dr. Winkelmann's question below, and we thank everybody for calling this
to everyone's attention. I've just spoken with Dr. Winkelmann, and he
understands the concerns. As such, I would like to ask everyone to
"hold off" on providing input or replying so that we can provide better
guidance the first of next week. My initial reaction is that the
information can be provided to this office as the DOD Regional
Environmental Coordinator and then the appropriate information given to
Dr. Winkelmann, basically what he needs for his submittal which would
exclude storage locations, etc. Also, some related R&D work has already
been accomplished, and we want to make him aware of that also.
We really appreciate everyone's interest in using this P2 List
Serve as well as working together to get strong proposals; and we
certainly don't want to dampen anyone's initiative or enthusiasm.
However, I'm sure that everyone realizes that we must take certain
precautions. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. George

Subject: [Dodp3] chemical warfare agents
I am submitting a proposal for funds to develop a photochemical method
to
decompose chemical warfare agents. Does anybody know which agents are
being
stored in the P4 region (gb, vx, etc)? This information would help me
tailor my proposal to focus on simulants of specific toxins.
Thanks for your help.
