[P2assist] Gypsum

Hi Eileen,
Is the sheetrock from a deconstruction or demolition project or is
it scrap from new construction? If it is from a demolition project, is it
painted or wallpapered? If the material is coated in some way, it may render
it unmarketable, however, the resident may still be able to crush the board
and extract the gypsum for use as a soil ammendment and just dispose the
painted outer paper.
Thanks for logging onto the DMRM. We still get e-mails from Cool
Springs Mulch and Stone fairly regularly. You'll have to leave a message on
their answering machine and they will respond when they are not out on the
mulch yard. I'm not sure about the status of Site Clean-up and Recycling.
For those P2Assist colleagues joining our ranks recently, the "DMRM"
is the Directory of Markets for Recyclable Materials. You access the markets
directory at http://www.p2pays.org/DMRM/
Also....many thanks to Greg for his excellent comments.
Regards,
Tom

Subject: [P2assist] Gypsum
I have a resident looking to have a truck load of sheetrock recycled. I
visited the DMRM and found 3 facilities within reasonable distance from
Concord. Only one of these seems to be viable though. If anyone knows of
another company or the status of the other 2 facilities (Cool Springs Mulch
& Stone in Statesville or Site Clean-up and Recycling in Charlotte), please
let me know. The third company, Union Gypsum can only accept scrap gypsum,
not any with paint or wall paper.
Thank you,
Eileen
