NON-PROFIT GROUP HELPS LOCALS RECYCLE BATTERIES
Disposal of batteries, many of which qualify as hazardous material, is a
problem for many cities and counties. The Rechargeable Battery Recycling
Corp. (RBRC), an Atlanta-based non-profit, public service organization,
has come up with a way to help. RBRC has announced that its nationwide
recycling program, Charge Up To Recycle!, is now available free to
local communities. Through the program, RBRC collects all portable,
rechargeable batteries, including nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride,
lithium ion and small sealed lead. The group replenishes supplies, such
as recycling boxes, for community recycling centers. More than 300
communities in the United States and Canada currently take part in Charge
Up To Recycle. For information about the program, visit
