It's difficult to envision a place in North Carolina where this weird accumulation of used tennis balls would be of sufficient quantity to be a real world landfill choker. Another possible meaningful use would be in Material Handling as a substitute to Styrofoam peanuts. As EMS is driving companies to look at solid waste minimization, there are more efforts to go to re-useable dunnage. Suppliers and customers create closed loops with returnable bins, skids and boxes. Conceivably a component or subassembly might require shock resistant packaging in a container and used tennis balls could fill the void (fill the void... get it?). Containment and control of them in a Shipping/Receiving environment might be problematic. There would probably need to be yet another 29CFR rewrite to address this new class of industrial fall and/or engulfing hazard. Best regards, Jim -----Original Message----- From: Bryant, Thomas J. I'd like some recommendations from = our P2assist=20 Listserv members about what to do with used tennis balls. One of our = colleagues=20 is trying to find a use/market for the balls. Apparently, they have lost = some of=20 their bounce, but they are still in usable shape but not enough bounce = for=20 tennis. Any ideas?
