Good Day Khanna,

    Thanks for posting your question on P2assist. Since your client with =
the waste spindle oil is ISO 14001 certified, I imagine they have =
examined the possibility of reducing the use of the oil as much as =
possible. Have they looked at the possibility of filtration and reuse as =
an option? Do you think the oil could possibly be used as a constituent =
in asphalt?
    I invite our other P2assist experts to add their comments and =
recommendations.

Best wishes,
Tom Rhodes

  Hi Environmentalist Friends,=20
  I have a client - a rubber industry unit in India . They are an ISO =
14001 certified company and highly proactive towards their environmental =
issues. We conducted an environmental review for them . They are facing =
a problem and all of us have got stuck up. Hope u'll can provide some =
assistance.=20

  The problem is as follows:=20

  -They have a Banbury Mixer where all their ingredients (raw materials =
used) is mixed thoroughly and the material thus obtained is collected in =
the hopper. They use Spindle Oil (specific gravity =3D0.88-0.90) as a =
Lubricant in the Banbury. The Lub oil enters through the rotor and comes =
out. The oil which comes out gets contaminated by the ingredients =
(mainly organic & some of it is inorganic) in the Mixer. Since there are =
plenty of different batches the composition of the oil varies.=20

  The calorific value of the waste oil is high and they were initially =
using it as fuel in the boiler but since they r an ISO 14001 certified =
co. they cannot do so cause it could violate the air act, legal laws.=20

  Quantity generated : 50 lit./day=20

  The waste process oil from rubber mixing was analysed=20

  Total Dissolved Solids =3D 0.05%=20

  Total Suspended solids=3D5.01%=20

  Gross Calorific Value in kilo cal/kg =3D 10538=20

  Carbon=3D85.6=20

  Hydrogen=3D9.5=20

  Sulphur=3D2.0=20

  Moisture=3D0.2=20

  Volatile matter=3D99.47=20

  Specific gravity=3D0.89=20

  Kinematic visc.=3D37.07=20

  absolute visc. =3D 33=20

  Is there any way in which we can use this waste oil- we all know some =
industry's waste could be some industry's resource???=20

  Is there any way in which we can recover the Lub oil/ use the lub oil. =
Please note one of the Raw materials is spindle oil.=20

  The viscosity of the waste oil is very high and color is black=20

  Is there any rubber industry which has managed to solve this problem=20

  PLEASE ADVICE.=20
