The Southern Energy & Environment Expo is a three-day public event designed
to showcase modern, sustainable energy technologies and regional "green"
enterprises in a context of responsible environmental stewardship for the
Southern Mountain Region.
The S.E.E. Expo will demonstrate proven alternatives for the sustainable
development of the region, merging together the economic, environmental and
energy opportunities presently available. By working together for the future
of our region and our children, we can make a difference!
Anticipated attendance is for more than 10,000 people over three days. The
Western N. C. Agricultural Center (Exit 9 off Interstate 26, across from
Asheville Regional Airport) is also the site (at other times) for the N.C.
Mountain State Fair and many other large events, making it ideal for easy
public access and on-site services.
Exhibit booths are still available for both commercial enterprises and
non-profit organizations.
Exhibits will feature sustainable energy technologies and conservation,
energy-efficient products, local and regional "green" enterprises, regional
environmental organizations and advocacy groups, low-impact development,
organic agriculture, sustainable forestry and much more.
Workshops and presentations will be offered at no extra charge to the public
during the course of the S.E.E. Expo. These workshops and presentations will
cover such topics as solar energy, wind power, small-scale hydro,
alternative building techniques, community activism, environmental
alternatives to present practices, and much more. Exhibitors will be
eligible, and are encouraged, to offer workshops or presentations of their
services, products or interests, at no extra charge to Exhibitors, within
the S.E.E. Expo guidelines and as scheduling permits.
Large displays and demonstrations of Exhibitors, such as solar systems, wind
plants, and alternative vehicles will be accommodated in an outdoor area
adjacent to the main indoor Exhibit Arena.
Entertainment will be provided during the course of the weekend by regional
artists and musicians at no extra charge to the public, except for the
scheduled Saturday night Benefit Concert, which will have a separate
admission fee of $12.
