[P2assist] Compost bin truck sales

Hi Eileen,

Even though truckload sales of commercially available compost bins
can create a high-profile "event", I think you may be able to attract more
backyard composting "opt-in" from local residents if you printed up
instructions on how to make a home compost bin (using several designs and
materials). With the money and time you would have spent on promoting "Earth
Machines" or similar devices, your county could purchase materials such as
wire mesh, cinder blocks or even make used pallets available to residents
and present a "compost day workshop event" at which citizens could use these
materials to learn how to construct their own attractive bins and use them
at their homes. You could charge a nominal fee to cover the materials and
residents could have some hands-on composting experience. The Earth Machine
is a good composter. I use one at home, but all things considered, you don't
need a fancy-schmancy compost bin to make great compost. Check this
out.................

Subject: [P2assist] Compost bin truck sales

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice from those with experience in holding a truck
load sale for either Earth Machines or a similar backyard compost bin.

I have been in contact with the Earth Machine rep a few times and I know
there are other companies out there, but I don't know about dedicating so
much time to a truck load sale so that their company can turn a profit. I
educate and encourage my residents to compost and give them suggestions for
the different methods. I know a bin like the Earth Machine is easy to use,
but I cannot justify supporting one specific company.

If you have experiences you can share I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
Eileen Sousley
