If the county commission approves our current proposals we will close the
three least productive convenience center sites, without a significant
reduction in available services by having the populace take their trash and
recyclables to sites that are not significantly that much further from the
present sites. By doing so, we will save on the lease fees for the three
sites totaling about $55,000 per year, power usage costs of $6000 per year,
annual salaries of $53414.40 and contracted services costs of over $25,000
per annum plus incidentals I am probably over looking. This totals to a
saving of over $114,000 annually. This savings only accrues if the board
agrees to the changes. Since we are a self-supporting agency the state
cuts do not have as significant an effect on our bottom line although the
holding back of grant monies is harmful.

Good day P2 Assist friends,

The following is an anonymous posting on behalf of a colleague in
the environmental field. Please respond to the listserv and we will relay
your responses back to our colleague.

"As a result of the State budget crisis, my organization may have to cut
services. Has anyone cut or does anyone plan to cut services or positions
in the solid waste/recycling area? If so, what is your plan and what are
the projected savings? Any information would be greatly appreciated."

Please respond to the listserv and we will relay your responses back to our
colleague.

Kindest regards,
Tom
