Hi Folks,
I need your response to the 3 questions below on the DPPEA EMS policy
statement. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
This message covers the following areas:
* DPPEA EMS on the intranet,
* the DPPEA EMS Policy training,
* the EMS objectives and targets,
* MQP addition, and
* writing EMS procedures.
You will receive similar messages from the EMS Team in the future that will
update you on its status, provide written procedures, and conduct additional
training. Your responses to the training questions will be used to
determine competency for that specific area of the standard. Your
electronic responses will also serve as a record of training receipt (ok you
can tell I've been writing this procedure, please don't go to sleep now!).
This is the team's first electronic training/competency determination so we
may have some changes to make after this intitial session. However, we feel
this will be the least demanding of your time and hopefully the most
effective means of two-way communication with the EMS. Enough of that, here
goes:
* The DPPEA EMS in now on our intranet,
http://www.p2pays.org/intranet/EMS/emshome.asp, where you can view the
finalized materials as well as some works in progress. The intranet will be
the vehicle that you are supplied info on the EMS and will be available for
your use.
* At next Friday's division meeting, Gary will go over the objectives
and targets that were developed as a result of the list of significant
aspects/impacts and what realistically the division could achieve; they are
Conducting Smart Meetings/Events, Increase Reusable Supplies, and Purchase
Less Polluting/Toxic Content Computer Monitors. These are detailed on the
intranet at the above address. How these will be implemented into division
activities will be reviewed next Friday. You can read the worksheets for
each one and that hopefully has enough direction on each objective & target.
* In our next MQP reviews we will have text describing the
individual's participation in the EMS. That information can be found at
o:DPPEA EMS/EMS Workplan Addition -- please put this in your MQP sometime
before the May reviews. This has been approved by Scott, Sharon and Gary.
* For those significant aspects/impacts, standard work instructions
will need to be prepared. These will be simply how that activity is to be
conducted whether conducting a "Smart Event" or ordering reusable supplies.
This will not be painful. We will have a template prepared and the team
members will be available to help you. This is something we need to do
anyway for the division so this is our opportunity! We will probably start
these in March.
* For the last part of this long message is the DPPEA EMS Policy
Statement Training. Please review the policy statement at
http://www.p2pays.org/main/epolicy.asp (or from the reverse side of your
handy DPPEA phone list) and send a reply to the following questions to me by
March 1, 2002 (next Friday); if you need more time just let me know.
1. In your words, what does the policy mean to you as a DPPEA employee?
2. How do you think, the division EMS will affect your job?
3. How do you think you can encourage the implementation of effective EMSs
by other organizations?
Everybody must respond to these questions, including the EMS Team Members.
I appreciate your time to read and respond.
Thanks!
