Local Governments and Electronics Recycling Stakeholders of Western North
Carolina,

The North Carolina General Assembly's Environmental Review Commission
(ERC) is considering legislation regarding electronics recycling. A
group of representatives from local governments, recycling organizations
and various associations has met to discuss the issues surrounding
e-waste and has drafted legislation proposing an Advanced Recycling Fee
that may be considered in the upcoming short session. As a point of
general reference, this legislation is somewhat similar to the existing
ADFs currently in existence for White Goods and Tires.

Land-of-Sky Regional Council and the Carolina Recycling Association are
sponsoring a Western North Carolina Meeting for local governments and
other e-waste stakeholders to learn more about the proposed legislation
and to solicit questions and comments.

The meeting will be held Monday, May 20 from 1-3 PM at the Land-of-Sky
Regional Council in Asheville, NC. Directions can be found on the LOSRC
Web site,

10th. That announcement is copied below.
