The Wake County Solid Waste Management Division, located in downtown
Raleigh, plans to hire an intern for the remainder of the fall semester and
the spring semester.
DUTIES/DESCRIPTION:
Assist program managers in the day-to-day activities of running various
programs including:
· Help promote recycling to Wake County employees.
· Help the Division prepare for various environmental events.
· Distribute information.
· Draft newsletter articles.
· Enter project data into a database.
· Check the appearance of recycling sites.
· Conduct research on solid waste programs via the Internet and other
means.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The position is open to an undergraduate or graduate student with a
concentration in environmental studies, natural resources, environmental
education, or another related field.
Applicants should have:
· Understanding of local recycling and waste disposal facilities.
· Good interpersonal skills.
· Strong verbal and written skills.
· Ability to work independently.
· Good organizational skills.
· Expertise with PC compatible software (Word and Excel). MS Access and
Projects preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The project would begin on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 and end on Monday, May
12, 2003. The student would need to work around 12 hours per week. The
intern position would be located in Downtown Raleigh and would be provided
a computer, telephone and parking stickers. The hourly wage will vary
depending on experience. Benefits will not be provided.
