[SustainableNC] Waterless urinals

After calling the State Building Code Council in the Department of
Insurance, I think the claim of victory is premature. Apparently, the
Council recommended that waterfree urinals should be allowed to be used. The
soonest they will get in the building code is January 1, 2005. In the
meantime, we can seek approval of the fixtures as an alternate. Since the
Building Code Council has recommended that their use be approved, this
should be adequate. However, discretion remains with the individual code
consultant who reviews the project.

Subject: [SustainableNC] Waterless urinals

Last week I was told of an instance where a local code official was not
allowing waterless urinals. However, I also just found out the NC
Building Code Council voted unanimously yesterday afternoon to accept
waterless urinals. A small victory, huh?
